Finding wisdom in this day and age is thought to be “book knowledge” and “higher education”. While in fact these are great things, they cannot and will not give us the wisdom of the things of God.
We should discipline ourselves to silence and prayer. As we draw near to God in prayer, we must always remember to shut ourselves up in silence to listen as part of that. God cannot speak to us and reveal His wisdom if our mouths are constantly clucking. If we are constantly petitioning Him and not listening for His wisdom we fail.
I am so guilty of this often. I pray and pray but then I don’t stop and listen. I don’t quiet myself to hear His words flow over and through me. So today, Lord, I pray that I can discipline myself to be silent sometimes and just hear you. Your word says from your mouth come knowledge and understanding. Then will Your wisdom enter my heart.
